Granite Countertops Tougher Than Quartz Countertops ?
Granite countertops and quartz countertops actually have a lot in common and the conveniences both materials allow us in our homes are many. Is one better than the other? In comparing both of these classic countertops the similarities are amazing.
If you wished you could use either as a huge chopping block! Reducing the need for cutting boards and other tools associated with prep work of a meal. About the only worry is chipping the edge of the countertop with something heavy and dense in nature.
Both countertops are heat resistant and can withstand a warm pan being set down directly on the surface. The use of trivets is advisable though to prevent compromising the sealant protecting your countertop. The quartz countertop is a bit more affordable then the granite so if budget is a consideration you may want to focus more on the quartz as granite depending on its grade can be pricey. Quartz is also found to be more stain resistant then granite, a snap to clean up, and is found to hold less bacteria than the traditional granite countertop. Also, to answer our original question, yes, quartz is a tougher material than granite!
The industry has not fully embraced the quartz countertop yet, partially because granite has become the industries standard material but as more and more homeowners learn of its beauty and function it’s expected to be used more and more. Be sure to plan your garden early this year and to make certain that it’s as bountiful as all the usual drudgery in the kitchen with cleaning, chopping and preparing your food for consumption will be complimented by your new countertops!
This can be a do it yourself project for those that are handy with measurements and tools, but if there is any doubt in ability, hire a qualified person to do the work done. Quartz is a nice material to work with and takes a sealant very well. Granite, too, is a material that lends itself well to precision cuts and sealant. Those who have experience working with it may prefer it over quartz and this is a fact to consider upon hiring.
